The senior football team’s run in the Scottish Schools Shield has come to a heartbreaking end.
After leading against Notre Dame High School until the 90th minute, the game finished 1-1 after normal time and they lost the deciding penalty shootout 4-3. Culloden were on top for the vast majority of the game and with 20 minutes to go they thought that Fionn Larnach’s powerful run and driven finish was enough to see them through. A further goal 10 minutes later from Oscar Beattie would have sent the team through for sure but it was chalked off after a narrow offside decision from the referee. Then, with almost the last kick of the game the Notre Dame team pulled level, finishing from close range after a long range effort was followed up by their striker. Culloden scored 3 of their penalties but the Notre Dame goalkeeper was the hero on the day, saving 2.
Well done to the boys this year on a very successful run and good luck to the S6 boys with their future footballing endeavours – Mr Houston
