COVID SYMPTOMS

If your child, or anyone in your household has any of the Covid symptoms please do not send your child to school. The pupil is to stay at home and seek medical advice. All siblings must also stay away from school as the household must all isolate for 14 days. Do not go to your GP or pharmacy but go online to NHS Inform to book a test at www.nhsinform.scot

Covid symptoms are:

  • new continuous cough (new cough lasting more than an hour, 3 or more episodes of coughing in last 24 hours, are coughing more than usual)
  • high temperature, hot to the touch on chest or back, may feel warm, cold or shivery
  • loss or change in sense of smell or taste,

If the test comes back negative and the pupil/staff member is fully recovered and without a fever for 48 hours, then they can return to school if no-one else in the household has symptoms. Please notify the school of the negative test result before they return to school.

Please note, this advice is not applicable for individuals that have been identified as contacts of a confirmed case.

If your child tests positive, then everyone within the household must isolate and you will be contacted by the NHS Highland’s contact tracing team. The child and their household will need to stay in self isolation and follow the advice of the contact tracers. The Highland Health Protection Team will contact Culloden Academy to provide advice which the school will follow.

If any member of the household is symptomatic, all members of the household must self-isolate for 14 days from the date the symptoms started. If the individual with symptoms is tested and receives a negative test, the pupil/staff member can return to school as long as there are no other symptomatic people within the household. Please note this advice is not applicable to individuals who have been identified as contacts of a confirmed case.

Please make the school aware of the test result so that they can expect the pupil back.

If any member of the household tests positive, all members of the household must self isolate, regardless of whether they have symptoms. They cannot return to school as your child is a contact of a case of Covid-19. The household will all be required to isolate for the full 14 days.

In all cases, can you please notify the school of the test result.

We appreciate that many of these symptoms may be signs of a cough, common cold or flu but in the current circumstances we need to take every precaution to keep everyone safe. If you are not sure, please err on the side of caution and keep your child at home. We thank you for your co-operation.
