Skills Development Scotland and Highland Council – supporting all school leavers

In response to COVID19 Skills Development Scotland, the national skills agency, will be contacting all expected school leavers over the summer to help to ensure that they are able to make and sustain successful transitions from school. It is of increased importance that Skills Development Scotland are able to offer their public services to young people given the economic uncertainty posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Currently, Skills Development Scotland and Highland Council are required to share pupil information, including contact details, as part of the Post-16 Education (Scotland) Act 2013 which supports the delivery of services in the public interest. To help contact school leavers in a timely manner Highland Council are providing additional contact details to Skills Development Scotland e.g. home telephone number or alternative mobile number.  This will help ensure that young people are provided with the right support and guidance to make a positive transition from school.
